Laura Dwyer, M.D. |
|
Laura began medical school in 2004 here at LSU New Orleans. In August 2005, when Hurricane Katrina devastated the medical school & home she owned with her husband, Laura took a leave of absence and transferred to Northwestern University’s Feinberg School of Medicine as a second year medical student. Laura has two graduate degrees in addition to her MD, an MPH from Tulane University, and an MA in Medical Humanities from Michigan State University. She enjoys hiking, camping, cooking, reading (especially about global health issues), international travel, and the New Orleans Jazz Fest. |

William Luster, M.D. |
|
From Natchitoches, LA, Bill completed his MD at the LSU School of Medicine in Shreveport after receiving a BS in Biology from Washington & Lee University in Lexington, VA. In addition to his medical school & research experiences, Bill was also an intern for the United States House of Representatives in Washington, completed business coursework at NYU-Stern, and fulfilled premedical studies abroad at the University of St Andrews. Still a country boy at heart and with a particular interest in rural healthcare, he enjoys the outdoors, a variety of sports (especially golf), exploring New Orleans nightlife, attempting to cook, and is a licensed pilot. |

Aryan was born in France and lived in Geneva, Switzerland before moving to Northern Virginia where she spent most of her childhood. Aryan graduated from the College of William and Mary prior to attending the Medical College of Virginia, and completed her intern year at Tufts University Family Medicine Residency Program before transferring here to be closer to her husband. She enjoys playing piano, guitar, tennis, and reading Victorian literature. New interests since moving to New Orleans include wakeboarding and spending time with her co-residents. |

Aryan Aghevli-Caire, M.D. |

Thuy was born in Vung Tau, Vietnam, graduated from St. Matthew’s University School of Medicine and received her undergraduate degree in Anthropology from Wellesley College, MA. Thuy has worked as an overseas volunteer in the Philippine Islands, co-coordinated a refugee youth program in Wellesley, MA, and most recently participated in The North Carolina-Louisiana Prostate Cancer Project conducted in part by the LSUHSC School of Public Health. In her spare time, she enjoys leisure (non-medical!) reading and getting laughs from “Glee” and “Community” with her family. |

Vu Mai, M.D. |
|
Prior to coming to EJ, Vu graduated from St. Matthews University School of Medicine and additionally held various degrees and positions in medicine. He received a Ph.D. in Biomedical Engineering at the University of Virginia and completed a Post-Doctoral Fellowship in MRI at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center and Harvard Medical School. He then worked as a Research assistant and professor at the Feinberg School of Medicine at Northwestern University. Vu has a keen interest in MRI would love to talk with anyone about MRI’s & diagnostic imaging in general. For fun he enjoys playing basketball, fantasy football, racquetball, snow skiing. |

Son Nguyen, M.D. |
|
Son was also born in Vung Tau, Vietnam and is the husband of Thuy Bui, graduating from St. Matthew’s University School of Medicine in May 2009. Prior to pursuing his medical degree, Son studied optometry at the University of Houston, and holds an undergraduate degree from Rutgers University in Computer Science. Son worked as a senior software engineer and architect in San Francisco and Atlanta, and also worked with the Lockheed Martin Government Electronics System in Moorestown, NJ before deciding to become physician. |

Rebecca Jones, M.D. |

Rebecca was born and raised in Metairie, Louisiana where she went to Saint Martin’s Episcopal High School and then attended LSU in Baton Rouge, majoring in Chemistry. After college, she attended LSU Medical School in Shreveport with her husband. She completed her intern year at UAMS in Little Rock. After moving back home, she decided to pursue a residency in Family Medicine, and she joined us as a second year. Rebecca enjoys hanging out with her family, which includes her husband and two children, Eli and Sylvie. |

Mary grew up in Queens, New York and attended SUNY-Stony Brook, majoring in psychology. She then attended Barry University in Miami for a post-baccalaureate program in biomedical services, while also working as an EMT. She attended St. Christopher’s College of Medicine in Luton England for her basic sciences prior to graduating from Ross University School of Medicine in March, 2009. Prior to starting residency Mary was a clinical coordinator for a Type 1 Diabetes clinical trial. Mary enjoys eating out, dancing, leisure reading, and loves her dogs Zachery (a shipoo) and Oscar (the wiener dog). |

Donald Fabacher, M.D. |
|
Donald was born and raised in Harahan, LA and attended John Curtis Christian High School in River Ridge. He received his bachelor’s degree at LSU and is a graduate of the LSU Medical School in New Orleans. He is an avid sports fan and enjoys hunting, fishing and spending time with his family and beautiful daughter. Before entering medical school he worked as an electrician with his father and brother, and also worked as a nurse technician. |

Erin Adams, M.D. |

Erin grew up in Metairie, LA and graduated from Mount Carmel Academy. From there, she went to LSU and obtained a B.S. in Kinesiology. Before medical school, she worked as a research associate in the Pharmacology department at LSU Health Sciences Center in New Orleans. Later, she obtained her MD from LSUHSC-No in 2011. Erin spends her free time with her husband Todd, and two children Isabella and Todd, Jr. |

Gayle Holley Beyl, M.D. |

Originally from Hammond, Gayle is a Louisiana native. She received her Bacchelor's Degree in Biology at LSU in Baton Rouge and then moved to the New Orleans area to attend LSUHSC School of Medicine. In her spare time she loves doing outdoor activities, such as boating or hiking, and collecting board games. |

Patrick P. Patten, M.D., M.P.H. |
|
Born and raised in University Place, WA., Patrick has one sister and one brother. He attended the University of Puget Sound in Tacoma, WA, where he earned a bachelor’s degree in chemistry. He then attended Tulane University School of Medicine in New Orleans, LA, where he earned an MD and an MPH with an emphasis in Health Systems Management. His interests include hiking, hunting, fishing, skiing (water and snow), photography, and woodworking. |

Andre Tilton, M.D. |
|
Born and raised in New Orleans, LA, Andre received his medical degree from Tulane University School of Medicine in 2010. Andre also received his B.S. in Biology from Xavier University of LA in 2006. Andre is an active member of the New Orleans chapter of the Southern Christian Leadership Conference, and is an ordained Minister and organist of the Temple of Divine Light Baptist Church. He enjoys track and field, weightlifting, live music, and many self engineered projects. |

Matt Sexter, M.D. |

Matt is from Bloomington, Minnesota and graduated with a BA in religious studies at Tulane. While a medical student, (also at Tulane) he completed electives in Kathmandu, Nepal and San Jose, Costa Rica. Matt lives in the upper 9th ward and is looking forward to a career as a community doctor for low-income patients in inner-city New Orleans. His hobbies include bicycling, ceramics, cooking, gardening, local music, and literature. |

Tan Vu, M.D. |

Tan was born in a little village of southern Vietnam. When he was 3, his family escaped and sailed across the sea for a brighter future. He grew up in Southern California, earned a BS degree in computer science at California Polytechnic State University, and worked as a software engineer before deciding to pursue his M.D. at St. Matthews University School of Medicine. His hobby is electronics, and he loves his entry-level home theater system, karaoke, and PS3. |

Hop grew up in Harvey, LA and obtained a BS from Tulane and MS from the University of New Orleans. After Katrina, he attended St. Matthews University for medical school. Hop is married to a wonderful amazing spouse and has 3 boys with very different personalities. When not spending time with his family, he enjoys playing basketball with his buddies. |

Michael Hulin, M.D. |
|
Michael originally hails from Lafayette, LA. He is a proud Ragin' Cajun from the University of Louisiana at Lafayette, where he graduated with a B.S. in Biology in 2007. He subsequently moved to New Orleans, where he obtained his M.D. from LSUHSC - NO in 2011. Michael spends his free time following all levels of football, firing up the grill, and enjoying the cultural niceties of the Crescent City. He and his wife Mary Beth currently live in the Lakeview area of New Orleans, LA. |

Joe grew up in upstate NY before attending the University of Notre Dame where he was not, in fact, the leprechaun. He then fled to New Orleans to experience sun, music and food - and also to go to Tulane for medical school. Joe lives in mid-city with his girlfriend Michelle, and loves to travel, read and play guitar. |

Huong was born in Vietnam and grew up in Queens, New York. She graduated from the Medical University of the Americas on the islands of St Kitts and Nevis. During her time in medical school, Huong volunteered to help out at local senior citizen centers, raised health awareness in local communities, and raised money to organize a relief drive for the Haiti earthquake. Huong’s hobbies include painting, sketching, reading, biking, hiking, volunteer work, cooking and watching comedies (life is simply too short not to laugh out loud at least once a day). |

She likes reading novels and travelling to new places and also enjoys spending quality time with her family. |
